Magnet Schools Program Application Information

  1. Magnet applications will only be available online. Parents without internet access can go to their first choice magnet school for assistance before the application deadline.
  2. The application will be online at from January 7, 2019 until February 8, 2019.
  3. The application portal will close promptly at noon Central Time on Friday, February 8, 2019.
  4. Failure to complete the application correctly will result in disqualification of the applicant.
  5. Applicants may only complete the electronic application once.Duplicate applications will result in disqualification.
  6. No changes can be made after the electronic application has been submitted.
  7. Applicants who choose to apply to more than one magnet school must rank their selections beginning with their first choice.
  8. School tour dates, times and information about each program will be posted on the MPS website.Please take advantage of the school tours in order to make an informed decision of your school choice.
  9. Applicants who are currently enrolled in Montgomery Public Schools will need their 10 digit Student State ID Number (located on the report card) to complete the magnet application.
  10. If you are currently enrolled in a magnet program you DO NOT need to apply to your feeder school, only apply if you wish to change magnet schools outside your feeder pattern.
  11. Applicants who are NOT currently enrolled in Montgomery Public Schools will need to complete all the information requested in the application.
  12. Official transcripts must be received in the magnet school office no later than 4:00 pm (CST) on February 22, 2019 at 3108 S. Fairwest Place, Montgomery, Alabama 36108.Applications with transcripts received after this deadline will be considered incomplete and disqualified.An email to the address on the application will notify the applicant of incomplete records.It is your responsibility to follow up with the sending school for complete records.
  13. Random selections will tentatively begin late April 2019; you will be notified of your status by email and written notification by U.S. mail.Additional selections will occur as needed to fill available slots.Applicants must meet the criteria to be a part of the random selection..Failure to maintain the GPA and discipline for the current school year will result in loss of eligibility.For final determination schools will use the final report card for the 2018-2019 school year.
